Marcus Harland-Dunaway is co-founder and CTO of Nolux, where he is leveraging plant biotechnology and electro-agriculture to pioneer food production decoupled from light to improve food security—building on his Nature Food publication, Electro-agriculture: Revolutionizing farming for a sustainable future. Harland-Dunaway completed his Ph.D. in plant biology at UC Riverside as a USDA NIFA AFRI fellow in the Jinkerson Lab and his B.S. in molecular and cell developmental biology at the University of Washington.
Nolux is unlocking a new era of resilient global food security by growing crops without light. Decoupling food production from photosynthesis dramatically reduces the energy costs of indoor farming—enabling efficient, affordable, year-round crop production anywhere on Earth and beyond.
