Bo Xu is founder and CEO at Gilly, a company using fungi to improve feed efficiency and productivity in cattle. Xu completed his Ph.D. in the Plant and Microbial Biology Department at UC Berkeley, where he was a Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellow and developed genomic tools for engineering disease resistance in crops. He previously founded and operated Ashby Fungi, a commercial mushroom farm distributing to farmers markets and grocers across the San Francisco Bay Area. Xu is passionate about advancing on-farm profitability for growers and producers.
Gilly uses fungi to help cattle extract more energy from feed. Its low-cost feed additive improves fiber digestion, reduces methane emissions, and enables producers to replace expensive forages with agricultural byproducts—boosting on-farm profitability.
