Charles Dove

Charles Dove is founder and CEO of NeoOptics, a startup commercializing a fundamentally new form of camera optics based on optical neural networks. His doctoral work at UC Berkeley used machine learning to simulate and understand light physics, focusing on uncovering the hidden complexity in biology and materials. Dove earned his B.S. from Clemson University and has been recognized with the Astronaut Scholarship, a Fulbright Research Fellowship, and the prestigious Hertz Fellowship.
NeoOptics builds ultrathin optical neural networks—metasurface optics that replace bulky lens stacks with application-tuned alternatives—enabling wider fields of view, reduced distortion, broadband imaging, and flatter camera modules. The technology has the potential to transform how we see and sense the world, from healthcare to consumer electronics and autonomous sensing.
