Nicolas Herard is co-founder and CEO of Euler Materials, a UC San Diego spinout developing next-generation lightweight materials engineered for vibration and shock mitigation across defense, aerospace, naval, and semiconductor applications. Herard co-founded Euler Materials in 2025 with his Ph.D. advisor, Nicholas Boechler. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from UC San Diego, and a B.S. in materials science from the University of Arizona.
Euler Materials develops advanced lightweight lattice materials that reduce vibration and shock by up to 100x—outperforming conventional solutions that have seen little innovation in decades. Tunable and multifunctional, the technology addresses a $90B aerospace maintenance market with critical applications across defense, naval, and semiconductor systems.
