Saurabh Malani is the co-founder and CTO of Fermeate, an industrial biotechnology company replacing chemicals with programmable light, making bio-based production cost-effective and more scalable across food, materials, and medicine. Malani holds a Ph.D. in chemical and biomolecular engineering from Princeton University, where he and his co-founder developed Fermeate’s underlying science, and brings additional expertise in machine learning for biological process modeling.
Most bio-based products never reach everyday use because fermentation is too expensive and inflexible to scale. Fermeate replaces chemical inducers with programmable light, helping manufacturers produce more product from the same inputs, lowering costs, and making bio-based production economically competitive across food, materials, and medicine.
