Zach Detweiler is co-founder and CEO of Radify Metals, developing non-equilibrium plasma hydrogen reduction to make rare earth and critical metals simply and cheaply. Previously, he led product and technology at Velo3D, directed research at Arcanum Alloys scaling CVD coatings from grams to tons, and co-founded Modern Barrel Company. He holds a Ph.D. in chemistry of materials from Princeton University, where he studied electrochemical CO2 reduction, and a B.S. from the University of Mary Washington.
Radify Metals is modernizing metalmaking. America mines rare earth ore but ships it to China for conversion because century-old refining is too dirty and expensive to run domestically. Its compact hydrogen plasma reactors strip oxygen off metal oxides in a single step, producing pure metal with water as the only byproduct.
